Self-Defense tells the story of three women who, like so many others, have been the victims of constant physical and psychological aggression by their partners. However, contrary to statistics and the fate common to most, they react, they kill the man they loved in order to survive. Accused of homicide, these women face the judgment of the courts, society and of their own consciences, while simultaneously trying to rebuild their lives. This feature film addresses the issue of domestic violence from an unprecedented point of view, giving voice to these protagonists who are almost not included in the femicide statistics, evoking a reflection on gender relations and the causes of passion and violence in women’s affective relationships.
