About us

Ocean Films was founded in Brazil in the year 2000, and quickly established itself as one of the most prominent and experienced audiovisual production companies in South America. With offices strategically located in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Florianópolis, Ocean develops and produces a wide variety of content, including advertising films, music videos, documentaries, reality shows, programs and series for television and streaming platforms, as well as feature films for cinema.

In all of these productions, Ocean Films stands out for its agility and ability to adapt to the specific needs of each project. We have also worked in many countries outside Brazil, including Portugal, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt and New Zealand.

Production Services

The art of serving. This is where Ocean Films’ heart is. This is what we love to do. Produce! And over the last 24 years we have been doing it with personalized attention, working in partnership with directors, production companies and agencies to find the best solutions for their projects, such as Anonymous Content, Smuggler, Biscuit, MJZ, Pretty Bird, Caviar, among others.

Fiction

Our first feature film, “Little Secret”, directed by David Schurmann and released in 2016, was selected to represent Brazil in the Best Foreign Film category at the Oscars. In 2021, we co-produced the series “Temporada de Verão” for Netflix. This year, we will release the feature film “Golden Men”, directed by Mauro Lima, a co-production with Caravela Filmes, TVQ, Globo Filmes and Telecine – with distribution in Brazil by Downtown. Also in 2024 the film “Meu Amigo Pinguim”, directed by David Schurmann and starring Jean Reno, will be released globally, with executive production by Ocean partner João Roni.

Documentaries

In the midst of the pandemic, we followed the drama experienced by health professionals in the series “Por um respiro” – a co-production with Globoplay launched in 2021. The series “Transamazônica Uma Estrada Para o Passado”, by renowned director Jorge Bodanzky, won the award for Best Documentary Series at the 2022 Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix – promoted by the Brazilian Cinema Academy. In 2024 we will release another film by Jorge Bodanzky, the feature-length documentary film “Amazônia, A Nova Minamata?”, a film that highlights the alarming mercury contamination of the rivers in the Amazon. The documentary “No Céu da Pátria Nesse Instante”, by director Sandra Kogut, won a prize at the Brasília Festival and was selected for the Malaga Film Festival, the Brazilian Cinema Festival in Paris and DOK.fest München.
